Alerts for: North Columbia

Warnings

12:06 PM PST Tuesday 16 January 2018
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • North Columbia

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Pockets of freezing rain will continue.

A Pacific frontal system is spreading warm, moist air over a thin layer of arctic air trapped in the southern interior valleys late this morning. Precipitation in the form of freezing rain mixed with snow will quickly change to snow or rain near noon or early this afternoon as a cooler air moves in aloft.

For South Thompson and central Okanagan, and the West Kootenay regions the freezing rain is more likely over higher elevations where temperatures remain below the freezing mark.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
