Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Burin Peninsula

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Rainfall amounts of 20 to 60 mm are expected.

Rain, at times heavy, is forecast to develop overnight tonight or early Wednesday morning and will begin taper off Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Wind warning in effect for:

  • Burin Peninsula

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong southerly winds gusting up to 100 km/h over exposed areas are expected to develop along the southwest coast of Newfoundland by early Wednesday morning. These winds are forecast to then spread eastward throughout the day.

Winds will shift to the southwest and diminish below warning criteria by Wednesday evening.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
