Major winter storm system to begin the week. Amounts of freezing rain will be significant...

A winter storm will affect the province of Quebec beginning Monday afternoon through Wednesday.

The snow will move into Southern Quebec on Monday and will change to freezing rain beginning Monday evening. These freezing precipitation will continue on Tuesday. A total of 5 to 10 millimetres of freezing precipitation is expected over these areas.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
